Madeleine Lawrence
Pianist, teacher, accompanist and former lecturer at
NSW Conservatorium of Music.
I was fortunate enough to study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with two of Australia’s most outstanding teachers, Alexandra Vinokurov and Neta Maughan AO. I attained High Distinctions in both performance and music history in my final year and was subsequently offered a teaching position at Sydney Conservatorium. During this time I performed extensively as an accompanist, soloist and chamber musician, including as harpsichordist for Baroque ensemble Ars Antiqua.
As an accompanist I played for diploma exams, graduation recitals, auditions and concerts at the Con. I also played for national opera competitions (Sun Aria) and at the Studios of sopranos Rita Hunter CBE and Deborah Cheatham AO.
In 1995 I made a tree change to the beautiful New England region of NSW and established a thriving studio. In the last 20 years many of my students have attained music scholarships at NEGS, TAS, NECOM and overseas, as well as achieving the top band in HSC music.
My teaching philosophy includes nurturing the whole child alongside paying meticulous attention to technical development, posture and a strong reading foundation.
I welcome students of all ages and abilities, including adults, with a strong desire to learn and a sincere commitment to practice.
